By which I mean, Poetry Slow Down, O evolved listeners of our post 9/11 world, what is it that sustains us in times of fear and threat and sorrow and worry? A SHOW IN WHICH WE PONDER LIKE EMILY DICKINSON’S CLOWN WAYS OF SEEING, SURVIVAL LITERACY, connecting W.S. Merwin (and his work on “The Blind Seer of Ambon,†Rumphius), Jason Roberts’ work on James Holman, Tennyson’s “Ulysses,†Derek Walcott, Ruth Stone, John Koethe, Walt Whitman, Maurice Sendak, and other untrammeled spirits. Let’s hear it for great inspired poetry that enables us to front the ogres of fate and carry on.
